Tibet

I went on a backpacking trip with 13 other friends, some who are living with Tibet. We went up to Mar Qu for the Horse Festival and it was a fun experience of camping out on the horse festival grounds. Though it was summer, we still got hailstones and chilly winds that cut through your bones - it is 3600 miles above sea level after all. We all had a great time with Yak burgers, Zhanba and Yak Butter milk.

Tibet is a natural wonder in its totally unspoilt and vast expanse of majestic mountains and neverending plains. Many times during the journey, it felt as if we were travelling in the land before time, and it was not difficult to imagine how this part of the world was like from the start of creation, and if indeed, it had changed much at all.

Hi Ivy,
Scrolling through Skellies comments I found you - and I can see you were in Tibet this year, just like me.
We were facinated by where they put up their pool tables - practically on the streets.
You take great pictures by the way. I totally am reminded of the light and atmosphere of the southern part of Tibet.
My visit to Tibet this year was professional. I have not published the pool pictures I took, but you can find some of my impressions at http://geodeticjourney.info if you so wish.
